At AB Music School, we offer personalized, one-on-one music lessons in Merrimack, NH for students of all ages and experience levels. Conveniently located near the Bedford town line, our private studio serves families throughout Merrimack, Bedford, and surrounding southern New Hampshire communities.
Think you're too old to begin an instrument? Think again. We have experience teaching students from age 4 through adulthood. Every lesson is individually tailored to build on each student’s strengths while addressing areas that need refinement. Each musician is unique — their instruction should be as well.
As with any artistic discipline, music has its emotional ups and downs. We use consistent, positive reinforcement to build confidence and independence because learning an instrument should be both rewarding and transformative.
Beginner Music Lessons
For beginning instrumental students, lessons focus on learning the fundamentals of the instrument: care and maintenance, proper posture and hand position, tone production, reading music, rhythm, and core music theory concepts.
Private music lessons are an excellent complement to school band or orchestra programs. In a classroom setting, even the most dedicated director cannot monitor every detail of technique. One-on-one instruction allows us to give each student 100% focused attention, preventing small technical issues from becoming long-term habits.
Half-hour lessons are typically recommended for beginners.
Advanced Students and Audition Preparation
For advancing musicians, lessons concentrate on refining tone, improving intonation, increasing technical speed, shaping musical phrasing, and expanding expressive control. Whether a student has previously studied privately or only participated in school ensembles, we provide structured guidance to elevate their playing.
Preparing for an audition, competition, or performance? We offer focused audition preparation and develop individualized practice plans designed to address challenging passages and build consistency under pressure.
Payment & Pricing
Payment is due on the first lesson of the month. Pricing is dependent on how many weeks are in the current month for the day on which your lessons are scheduled. The rate is $35 per 1/2 hour session or $70 per hour long session. Monthly breakdowns are as follows:
4 week month, 30 minute lesson: $140
5 week month, 30 minute lesson: $175
4 week month, 60 minute lesson: $280
5 week month, 60 minute lesson: $350
